Bill has over 40 years of experience as a Senior Executive and Scientist in private and public aviation engineering companies, including 15 years at the FAA. He was the Director for the Americas for Lufthansa Technical Training. There he led development of Human Factors Training for 10,000+ Lufthansa Technik employees worldwide and another 50,000+ external customers worldwide.
Dr. Johnson joined the FAA as the first Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance Systems. In that Senior Executive capacity he provides scientific and technical leadership to the FAA in all matters related to Human Factors in maintenance.
Bill is an Aviation Maintenance Technician and Pilot for over 50 years, He has served as a Designated Mechanic Examiner for the FAA and a Professor at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Johnson has participated in Halldale conferences for nearly 20 consecutive years, with a long-term lead role in the US WATS conference.
